What does it take to operate a group home? What type of property might work best for this?


A group home is a private residence for children or young people who cannot live with their families, or people with chronic disabilities who may be adults or seniors. Typically there are no more than six residents and there is at least one trained caregiver there 24 hours a day.


It helps to have a large house with multiple bedrooms. The operator of the group home might live in one or more of the rooms, reserving the others for tenant clients. More bedrooms generally mean more cash flow.

And being close to urban amenities, such as public transportation, hospitals, employment, family or cultural activity are also big positives.
